Recognize life-threatening conditions that necessitate calling 9-1-1 or the designated emergency number. Have the confidence and knowledge needed to take action in an emergency. Describe the emergency action steps CHECK CALL CARE. Understand CHECK CALL CARE as a fluid process. Understand the difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest. Describe how to care for heart attack. Understand the difference between normal breathing and breathing that is not normal in an unresponsive person. Demonstrate how to perform high-quality CPR. Understand the importance of CPR with breaths and if unable or unwilling to give breaths\, the role of hands-only CPR. Understand the value of using an AED along with CPR.
